tarpon sebastian

Through the early and mid week, the bite on the beach was pretty good with Tarpon feeding on mullet schools, up until the swells picked up. Later in the week, the bite slowed a bit with some north wind and heavy seas. Live bait and DOA baitbusters were all good baits for the tarpon, sharks and jacks.

In the inlet, the bite was similar with a good bite early in the week and then slowed down a bit. When the seas picked up, we moved inshore and had good success fishing the spoil islands with live mullet and pilchards for snook, redfish, trout and jacks. Live baits along the sandbars around the spoil islands near the inlet produced some good fish as well as some docks close to the inlet.

We should have a good early week pre storm bite this week with Hurricane Ian heading our way. Hopefully it misses us and the mullet run stays strong. Both the inshore and nearshore bite should be good before and after the storms.

Kevin with one of two Tarpon we hooked at the same time.
