Rain… We need rain to start filling up our lakes. As the summer moves into where we start every afternoon to get the rains the waters should fill our lakes. This will make a great time to target spawning bluegill and bass, which are protecting their fry, even better.

This week I went on an adventure with a long time friend to the 3 Forks area at the end of Malabar Road in Palm Bay. I have nicknamed this body of water the Tracker Lakes just because it is best to have a lighter weight boat to get to some areas in this vast system. At one point, we actually had to get out of the boat and push it through a very shallow area. Once we were in fishable waters we had a very good day with over 40 bass and lots of bluegill and specks. The bass would only eat our smaller lures that we offered to them. Smaller prop baits and crank baits were the pattern for lots of fun.
