red snapper banging

We hope you’re adjusting well to your Monday. To help, we’ve got a nice after-the-weekend fishing report for you.

It looks like the red snapper season went out with a bang! A lot of really nice red snapper we’re caught over the second and final weekend of open harvest. We’d like to send out a congratulations to everybody that landed one of these beautiful fish! Apart from red snapper, anglers have been also doing pretty well with sea bass and cobia.

For the Indian River Lagoon, there’s still a lot of mangrove snapper being caught along with some small trout and red drum around the docks and bridges. Meanwhile, the canals are also still holding some really nice fish. Customers have been reporting great bites on speckled seatrout, mangrove snapper, sheepshead, and juvenile tarpon.

As for surf fishing, we’ve been seeing large schools of mullet on the beach and the BIG tarpon have been out there taking advantage. Unfortunately, the bite on the bottom has remained a little slow and the catfish remain pretty thick out there. Some customers have reported decent catches of margate and whiting, however.

Have a great week, everybody, from all of us at Man Overboard Bait and Tackle!
