midnight snapper run

Finally, a marine forecast we can work with! Starting Sunday, the wind shows 5-10 knots and extended we can see 2-3ft seas in the forecast. We have some awesome trips planned this month that we are very excited about.

The reefs have seen almost zero fishing pressure for a month and the ground swell will have inhibited the natural feeding of bottom fish. What does all that mean? It means they should be hungry and a added bonus is that seas are starting to calm at the same time we are having a full moon.

Sunday we are running a full moon snapper trip targeting mangroves, muttons, lanes and vermilions. We expect to see a few cobia also. We will leave out at 5pm and return at 2am. The price is $95 per person, includes dinner and we are limiting the trip to 35 people so there will be plenty of elbow room.

October can have some really great bottom fishing when it is timed just right. After the seas finally calm and the bottom starts to clean up in the deeper water, it can trigger a killer bottom bite in the 140 to 220 ft range. Typically, we need at least 4 or 5 days of calm seas for this to happen. We are hoping we time it just perfect for our 15 hour trip on October 18th. Leaving out at 7am and returning at 10pm we plan to fish the deeper water and work our way back in to mangrove fish toward the evening. Current and the bite will dictate where we fish but we plan on going for it and having a blast. This trip is also limited to 35 people. Price is $155 per person and includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We are keeping our fingers the forecast holds and we can finally get out to do some very exciting trips.
