bonito

Nearshore fishing is still pretty good with Bonito, Kingfish and sharks along the beaches and some tarpon, as well. Snook have been on the beaches as well and at the inlet. The Snook are feeding on small schools of pilchards and glass minnows, with the best live baits being the pilchards and Mojarra. Best baits for Tarpon are mullet, greenies or pogies. Kingfish and bonito have been hitting lures as well as live greenies. Nearshore reefs have been holding some of the kings, in addition to lane and mangrove snapper. Live shrimp or small pilchards have been good for the Snapper.

Inshore water temps are still 85-90 degrees. Snook, trout and reds as well as the occasional flounder have all been hitting live bait on the mangroves and point along the shorelines that are in schools of mullet Live finger mullet, pigfish and pilchards have been working best. Artificial have been working well early, but later morning and throughout the day, live baits are the key. Deeper water has been best for having success using artificials in the lagoon.
