Sebastian offshore fishing

This week is all about the “endangered” red snapper! So far this has been the easiest season that we have had. They have been on almost every piece of ledge from the 90 out to the 240 stuff. Not only have the reds been abundant they’ve been hungry! Live bait or dead bait hasn’t mattered, but generally the bigger the bait the bigger the fish. Live pinfish and pilchards have been the bait of choice for us this week with frozen sardines catching their fair share as well. An 8 foot 60-80 lb leader on a sliding sinker rig has been doing the trick.

With the limits coming so fast, we have had to turn our attention to other species to finish out the day. We have been switching over to chicken rigs with squid and fishbites chunks to catch tasty triggers and beeliners on the same rocks. The top water bite slowed a little bit this week with only a few kings and a couple of mahi reports.

Remember to use some etiquette on these busy weekends as anglers will have flatlines off the back. If you are within 50 feet of someone you are way too close. Be safe and have fun out there!
