9 lb bass

This was a really good week to be on the water if you were looking for good numbers and trophy bass. Stick Marsh continues to produce multiple bass 7-9lbs that were caught on Black Whopper Ploppers and Bass Assassin RSB worms rigged with a 5/0 EWG hook weightless. To see how I rigged them, check out our Hooked on Headwaters YouTube channel for this week’s rig of the week.

Headwaters produced pretty good numbers and our biggest was 6lbs. The best bait to throw this week was a White chatterbait with a white swimbait trailer along scattered Hydrilla and up close to the reeds around the Minefield section of the lake. If you need a map of the lake or any of the lakes in the Fellsmere area stop by Fellsmere Outdoor Adventures Tackle Shop. Pat has detailed maps of Stick Marsh, Kenansville, Garcia, Blue Cypress and Headwaters Lakes.

After this New Moon, I will be focusing on the topwater bite and Bass Assassin’s Fat Job Straight tailed worm rigged Wacky style and Texas rigged, just depending on the thickness of the cover. I will be using a 7’4″ Medium Heavy action Halo rod, with a Shimano SLX DC reel and 40lb no fade braid Vicious line. This week should produce some really good numbers at both Headwaters and Stick Marsh so get out on the water. Good Luck and tight lines, friends.
